@diya
I love music too much
Lyrics –> end up singing in my head
Good beat –> end up dancing (in my head/physically?)
Instrumental –> can sometimes work if it’s a very soft, repetitive melody (depends on my mood) but then after 20 minutes, if I turn it off, I realize how much better it is in silence hahaNOW tell us why the reasons are so important!

Find it distracting. The feeling of successfully concentrating on the task at hand without any noise, interruptions, distractions, just the way you planned is simply priceless 😀

Don’t know why and how. It’s been a habit from childhood. Music never distracts me while studying. It’s like my study partner. 🙂

I listen to a lot of angry, ragy music when I’m studying. I don’t usually listen to this kind of music unless I’m studying, interestingly enough. I think it works for me because I just can’t make sense of what the singers are on about so it’s not so distracting, but drowns out everything else.

Like @sidmenon. I tried the instrumental ones, but even them I sometimes hum along. I quite like the background ‘music’ of a cafe…

Very very very rarely. I feel distracted when i listen to music and study at the same time. Plus, i honestly feel that i’m not doing the music justice by paying attention to something else while listening to it. I guess it could be said vice-versa too.

90% of the time I don’t but sometimes I need to drown out some background noise so I’ll stick something instrumental on. Movie soundtracks are quite good for this and the soundtracks to The Fountain (or anything by Clint Mansell really…) and Tron are two of my favorites.
