        Hello,

I have joined as a marketing assistant after recently graduating with a bachelors in Economics. I however, want to get into investment banking and I took this job as a means to pay for CFA and FMVA certifications. Is this going to in anyway hurt my prospects when I apply for a job in more finance specific roles after my CFA level 1? I did not want to take a drop as well, so I decided to take the job.

Honestly speaking, it would be tricky. I would try and emphasize any financial, analytical or investment responsibilities when writing it up in your resume.

Rarely have I seen any investment banker with experience only in investment banking or research. There are wide variety of companies that you deal with and wide variety of tasks in the IB domain, So CFA is definitely a base level education that makes you eligible to enter the filed.
