in reply to: Average Practice Exam Scores #82439Up::8
From Level 1 experience the CFAI mocks were a lot more difficult than the actual exam as well as the KS mocks. Hope that’s the case again because the mocks have really been difficult.
I got 67% in the morning and 53% in the afternoon session. Totally dented my confidence!in reply to: CFA Level 1 Final Month Study Advice #80959Up::6Beware of taking the KS mock exams. I’ve found them easier than the CFAI mock exams and the CFAI mock exams ask questions in a slightly different way according to me. I don’t know how to explain the difference but you sure feel it when you answer both KS and CFAI mock exams. Also like I’ve said the KS notes and exams don’t cover all the topics required for the CFA exam so there’s another point of caution. Make sure you answer at least 2 CFAI (6+6=12 hours in total) before the exam. If you can’t then sacrifice a couple of KS exams to allocate time.
in reply to: Average Practice Exam Scores #82405Up::6Well Fixed Income, Economics and Alternative Investments are my weak areas. I’ve covered Economics quite well but Fixed Income seems to be a problem. I don’t care about AI because it’s just worth studying so much for such few marks.
in reply to: Stop loss vs limit order #81283Up::5oh yeah I forgot the main difference. Limit Order is a kind of Execution Instruction which states how to buy/sell. Stop Loss order is a Validation Instruction which states when to buy/sell.
in reply to: Question of the Week – Corporate Finance #81345Up::5Doesn’t a reduced line of credit mean that it’s difficult to get credit now which is an unexpected reduction in money coming in?
in reply to: Question of the Week – Equity #81347Up::5Whenever the closest to is not close enough I begin doubting my answer. Since the option was $75 I thought the answer wouldn’t be less than $74. When I got 72.57 I recalculated it thinking it must be wrong coz it’s too far from $75. Luckily it’s a simple calculation. Hope it’s not like this in the exam.
in reply to: How did it go? #81378Up::5Damn! I find it hard to believe how so many people actually managed to finish on time or way before time.
Anyways any idea on which week of Jan the results will be out? My birthday is on the 22nd of Jan. Hope it comes out after that. It would be awkward for me to celebrate anything knowing I failed (that is IF I fail).in reply to: How did it go? #81382Up::5wm247 said:wm247 said:RoyD said:Damn! It would be awkward for me to celebrate anything knowing I failed (that is IF I fail). If I’m not mistaken, it’ll be on Tuesday, 3rd week of Jan15. That gives us January 19th, 9AM EST for the results to be out then, and that also translates to 9PM, Jakarta time. 😀
Oops, I mean January 20th. My bad. :#
Wow! Couldn’t be a better or worse moment depending on whether I pass or fail.
in reply to: So what now? #81414Up::5But we need at least 6 months for Level 2. I will be starting studying for Level 2 right after this week. My results are 50/50 as well but that’s mostly because I got nervous and messed up on the test rather than not knowing the material.

in reply to: failed level 1 with band 8 #81704Up::5It was $800 for the exam last time I checked. Hard copies of the curriculum books will cost you more. Don’t feel discouraged. Band 8 isn’t too bad.
in reply to: MPS- Minimum Passing Score #81762Up::5@CFAI_wont_stop_me
80%? Lol. the pass rate would be like 20% then. I got above 70% in everything other than FRA and my estimated average was 76%. 70% is a pass on any day.in reply to: 300 Hours’ Rough Guide to a Solid CFA Study Plan #81763Up::5Hey @Sophie I used this tool to plan my Level 1 study successfully but now when I tried using it for Level 2 there’s a slight problem. All the stuff I entered into the spreadsheet for Level 1 is copied into the Level 2 spreadsheet including the stuff in the grey boxes. Everything is exactly the same as Level 1. What should I do?
in reply to: Average Practice Exam Scores #82431Up::5So I finished the morning session (untimed) I must have spent maybe an extra 30 mins max. But Damn was it crazy. Some of the topics like Econ, Fixed Income and PM were so easy whereas FRA and Equity were insane. Anyways I ended up scoring 67%. A lot of educated guessing but I left out stuff I was completely blank on so that I could get a justified score.
Up::4Hell YES! I’ll be answering Level I in December. Started studying some time in the middle of last month and I’m done with Ethics and Quants. On with Economics now.
Up::4From what I’ve heard people say and the interviews I’ve been to I feel employers actually take it as a negative when I say that I will be studying for my CFA Level I exams while working if I get the job. I’ve heard a few people say to me that don’t disclose the fact that you’re studying while working.
