@LeChiffre‌ that actually sounds like a really good and very do-able idea. Sometimes all you need is a little perspective – I’ll give it a try tonight

@edulima thanks for your response. I have done some analytical/valuation work, and because of that they want to train me up as an analyst, they seem to think I will have no problem passing but based on everything I’ve read, I’m not so sure, this is coming from guys who did level one 15+ years ago and are basing their opinion on that.

My issue is that if I don’t take the December sitting they will see it as me not having a proper interest in pursuing it further. I could try do 3 hours daily but I feel like I might crack under the pressure. They are willing to pay for it and for whatever education tools I might require.

My OH is telling me I HAVE to do it, to prove to work I have drive and a friend who is a CFA is telling me its not possible in the time frame.

I decided to wait it out and take the June sitting after lots of humming and hawing. With everything going on right now I just think its best to get myself organised and have plenty of time to cover all the material. I registered and am waiting on my study material to arrive. I’ve set up a study plan and I’m hoping that if I take one topic at a time, it will all be ok. haha. I’m mentally preparing myself for some serious tantrums in my future.

I’m just finished Quant and found it was straight forward enough, helps that my OH loves stats and probs so if I was stuck I could ask him and he would explain it in a more digestible way……that being said I abhor hypothesis testing. It just will not stay in my brain, even when I’m re-reading it I know none of it is being retained.

I thought the AM was easier too, I’m crossing all my finger and toes that I passed.

@LeChiffre sounds like you’re doing really well. Do you use the CFA question bank? or another provider? or both?

I find on first try I get around the 55-60% and then once I retry the same questions again the numbers get up to the high 70’s/80’s so I guess the first round of questions helps me figure out what I didn’t fully grasp after the first reading. I also find I get better results on the weekend mornings then after work during weekdays which goes to show how tiredness really affects your ability to consume more information.

I’ve only covered Ethics, Quants, Econ and FRA for now so I’m starting to feel under pressure to get everything read in the next month-6 weeks to give myself plenty of time for practice exams and revision.

@Maverick he had an MBA and Finance Degree so I’m sure he had a lot of the groundwork from that.   @edulima, I’m going to do it. Like you said worst case scenario I fail, its not the end of the world. Going to register and order Schweser now and get cracking. I’m a fairly fast reader, so I’m hoping to get through all the material by September and then do a revision in October and save November for practice exams. I feel like once I register I’ll be counting down the days until December so its over but I’m sure I’ll manage somehow.

I went through some sample quant/econ questions with my OH  last night, he’s a Engineer and he was getting engrossed so I know if I have questions he’ll be there to help. He loves problem solving.

@LeChiffre, I had a similar plan to yours but on to FRA now and my plan has fallen to pieces, I figured if I was getting 70-80% I would move on the next subject and once I start practice exams I could determine my overall weak areas and work on those for the final month.

Feeling a bit underwhelmed at my own performance though and its very disheartening. I keep complaining to my OH and he keeps telling me I’ll be fine (which makes me want to hurt him) I don’t feel like I’ll be fine at all. I think my attitude is having a negative effect on my ability to actually remember the material because when I’m answering the questions, all sorts of things are going through my head, like I need to answer fast, how much time do I have left……is this the right answer. So many times I’ve changed my answer to a wrong one because I’m over thinking and complicating things.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant……

I find the Schweser questions easier than the CFA material ones. I attempted one round of questions on the actual CFA site and found the questions harder than whats in the books but that might be just me. Sounds like people are doing them open book. I try to avoid that as I don’t think it helps in the long run.

Thanks guys, I’m feeling a little better after the weekend, scoring slightly better in 3 of the Kaplan tests. @googs1484 I used CFAI materials to study mostly and Kaplan for revision. I’m going to do some more exams over the next few days and then hopefully I’m going into the exam with as much covered as possible. I can’t wait for Saturday to be over.  @RoyD you’ve made me feels a lot better, do you think there is any point repeating exams I’ve already done? I’m tempted to redo them to see have I improved my score but I don’t want to waste time if it’s not helpful.

Failed. Totally gutted, thought I had done enough to pass. Considering if this is the right thing for me to pursue
