We’ve got a set of videos (total under an hour!) to help you rapidly review what you need to know for the Level I exam. This is great to help calm the exam jitters or to direct your last minute cramming.
Check it out here:

I do find the videos useful. They communicate the essential points. I like the cartoons. The speakers are clear and come off as approachable, but their gender and ethnic mix reinforces my sense that if you’re African American or female, the CFA community is a lonely place. Also, I surmise that if anyone has unconscious biases toward white and (for quant work) Asian males for expertise over other ethnicities and women, your videos reinforce these biases. I would give the soft subjects to the Asians, use 50% women and use African Americans for quantitative material. Use your leverage as video producers to both teach and subtly change the world.

For everyone at the beginning of their level 1 studying, this is a good resource to watch through to get a “lay of the land” of all the topics.

The best thing about these videos is that they show the forest. Keeps you from getting lost among the trees! Congrats.

Thanks for the feedback! We are so glad they are useful! When have you been using them in your study process?
The message we really want to convey is the value of our team approach (See our team, most based in Iowa), and that you don’t really have to be an expert to master the material. Most companies only use their top presenter, the one with the credential and the recognizable face. So we are going on a limb to give others on our team an opportunity to teach and build their skills. We want to give everyone on staff who knows the material an opportunity, irrespective of their gender or ethnicity. We’d be violating our value of the team by not allowing a skilled staff member to teach because they don’t meet some kind of demographic expectation.
Most of the women on our staff are actuaries or working on MCAT/LSAT content. We do not have any women pursuing the CFA. We have a female in our CFA calculator guide, because Esther is our on staff calculator expert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ehchb6Zvag0
