Hi guys,
Right at the start of the journey. Which calculator would you recommend me to buy? Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks

@CFAcharterwannabe‌ can you buy stuff from Amazon where you are? That’s how I’d get my stuff…

@Tobi‌ I didn’t find much difference personally for the CFA exams. Most people I talk to choose the Pro primarily because they like the way it looks. I mainly used the non-Pro version.

BA II Plus is better if you’re new to this. Most materials teach based on that, it’s more common (more likely to be able to borrow one if you forgot yours during exam day), and its cheaper.
But if you like RPN you might swear by the HP 12C. We’ve talked about it quite a lot here: http://www.300hours.com/1/post/2012/12/how-to-choose-your-calculator-texas-instruments-ba-ii-plus-vs-hewlett-packard-12c.html

Hi @red8745, hope your studies are going well so far. Why did you decide to go for the Pro instead of the plus only? I have heard the Pro has more functions (but some argue they are not needed for the exams) and the plus only is easier to use. Any comments will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I got the TEXAS BA II PLUS PRO myself. The reason being that it was the only type of calculator available at the mall in my area. So I didn’t have a choice. I was just happy I found a calculator, period.
