Just saw some promotional stuff on Claritas – seems like a pansy version of CFA
Anyone knows anything about this certificate? Wonder if this is CFA’s attempt to ‘segment’ CFA candidates, and what effect it has on CFA pass rates, difficulty and so on.

From what I’ve read, the general feeling isn’t great about it. Heres a link from Analyst Forum http://www.analystforum.com/forum/s/cfa-forums/cfa-general-discussion/91313698

I know a few committee members in some local CFA societies. Their feedback on this was that the Claritas is CFA Institute’s outreach to support staff-like functions (e.g. such as in an asset management firm) so that they better understand the responsibilities of the firms they support.
Some key points I got from our conversations:
– One exam only, no multiple levels
– Level of difficulty is much more reduced compared to CFA Level I
– Little or no calculation questions, mostly conceptualIf you’re looking for a proper career in finance-related roles I doubt the Claritas is going to help, but if you’re a support function (i.e. legal, IT, HR, etc) in a finance-related industry this might be interesting for you.

@christine would you be able to find out more? I just wonder if people will start taking this Claritas stuff and put on their CV that ‘they’ve passed the CFA exams’. That would be really annoying.
I would actively prosecute these people if that happens.

Claritas sounds weird too. Doesn’t seem to be in the same vein as “Chartered Financial Analyst”.
