I believe that the correct term (at least in North America) is “time theft” and you are not alone in committing this offence. I conducted a poll of candidates who have a job, and 110% responded that they are doing the exact same thing.
Note: The results of this poll are considered accurate within a range of +/-10% 19 times out of 20.

But what if u got caught while studying! What will be msnagrment’s reaction if an emplyee is further enhancing his skills by utilizing the idle time at work, m afraid they should not start accusing abt ” time theft”, @marc literally sfter reading ur comment i had closeddown my book! Though m sitting idle and surfing internet!

But you’re starting very early. Don’t worry, you’ll have sufficient time with such consistent effort.

I’m in a customer service job, so I quite often have an extra 2-5 minutes between customers where I can’t get any real work done, so I use studying to kill the time. I never whip out the books, though. I either practice writing down formulas or go on the forums or something.

I seldom can do it, as I can’t focus if I know it’s not something I can/should do, or perhaps it’s a fear of being spotted?
Anyways @mcricky, @gary – @christine wrote an excellent piece on this which hopefully helps on studying for the CFA during the workweek.
