Up::17Is Your Work Experience CFA-Relevant? Here’s How To Check
When I was taking the CFA exams, work experience was something I didn’t worry about. I didn’t have to. The senior people at my firm were CFA charterholders, so the experience I was accumulating there…Read the full story here -

@raguiar which initial comment are you referring to?
@adequateryan there is no timeline or time limit for this – you just have to total 4 years. 🙂 -

Did the Revenue Management Analyst who sent the initial comment obtain any more information or confirmation thereafter? Thanks!

Is there a time line for when the work experience has to be completed after finishing level 3?
The reason I ask is I passed level 1 and 2 while living in a country where my visa did not allow me to work. So, I very well may end up passing level 3 and still be 4 years away from having the relevant work experience.

the comment “I assume my work experience will be borderline. My job title is Revenue Management Analyst, and my work certainly deals with the financial side of a company – specifically revenue analysis, maximization, and decision making – but saying my job regularly involves “securities or similar investments” is a stretch at best”. I find myself in a similar role and was wondering how or if this work translated.

Hi Zee, I already passed all 3 and while filling out my application, I wasn’t sure how to present my duties within Asset Management Corporate Finance. I’m not sure if I just didn’t lay out my responsibilities in the proper format or if my work experience simply isn’t what they’re looking for but CFAI sent me a note mentioning work experience descriptions do not include enough information on position, daily duties and role to make a decision.

Hi, actually I wanted an advice. I just passed level 3 exams in 2013. However, I’m a bit confused about the relevant working experience. I have been working for 3 years only and would therefore consider applying for the membership only next year; but I’m not too sure whether my present work would count as relevant experience.. I just wanted to know whether after 4 years of experience in my current job, same will be relevant. I am presently working as credit analyst in a commercial banking institution which consists of the credit appraisal of debt financing of businesses (including existing businesses and project financing) through financial analysis/ cash flow analysis, collateral analysis and repayment capacity of the borrowers. Thanks in advance

Hello @jess_1220, your experience sounds very relevant to me! So it seems like you have to wait till next year to apply, and have a sponsor to refer you as well (usually your direct boss or colleague).
