…what would you change?
I’d allow people to say ‘he has a CFA’, or ‘she is a CFA’. Everyone else makes this mistake, and correcting them makes you sound really pompous.
Any others?

No ‘essay’ paper at LIII. Firstly it’s been diluted to the point where apparently they are looking for key almost rote learnt phrases, so you may as well make it multiple choice. Secondly, it’s a further penalty against those for whom American English is not a first language.
Unlikely, given that the original tests were essay. They’ll always retain a small part of it as subjective I think.

– Keep Level-2 in December as well.
– Decrease fee if writing for the second time.
– Revert back to the old way where we can choose between e-book / curriculum.
– Add Sector analysis in curriculum in Level-2/3, at least for the main ones like Infra/Capital Goods/Pharma. etc.
– Instead of us going and checking if there is any new errata, it should send a mail to registered candidates whenever there is new changes, this includes for the mock exam too. Last time for Level-2 mock exam there were too many mistakes!! At least give an option to select updates from the CFA site. -

On test day, the first 50 people through the door get a free CFA Charter!
That would be awesome to watch @dollarstodonuts.

I’d get them a better marketing team. I’m always surprised when I tell people I’m working towards the CFA charter and they respond with CA?

I would recommend to have another dept solely for careers counselling and helping candidates in getting jobs or at least internships specially for the CFA’s in the third world countries who get it but don’t have appropriate opportunities to put his/her knowledge in practical field.

I wish you could go through CFA Institute for tracking into certain industries. For instance, you have to get the CFA charter as-is, it garners an (AM) specialization for asset management, then can get specialized CFA (IB) for Investment Banking with model building and ethical negotiations strategy, CFA (QS) for Quant Specialists that includes various programming language study, CFA (ES) for Economics Strategy that does in-depth case study of various types of economic study (classical, behavioral, and all the different schools of economic thought). They can be additional 200-250 hours of study but drill into individual value-added topics.

May be 2 attempts for L2 is good..not L3 though
They might want to add some specialisation electives after the three exams as optional for those who want specialised careers. -

To be able to choose two answers out of the 4 options in MCQ and be given the benefit of doubt during correction 😛

Might as well ask for more points!

Though if all levels were offered twice a year I think leas candidates would give up. The one year wait between exams (especially if you failed) is frustrating.

1 year gap between exams that too when there is gap is very frustrating. The probability of failing again is more. Not sure if there are any stats on this with 300hours. would be interesting to see. I wish you guys include the attempt number also while candidates submitting the results
We might include that in the next round.

The work experience requirement appears to be unfair. Someone who has been managing his own and other people’s portfolios deserves experience credit commensurate with the depth of research and sophistication of the strategies employed. According to the guidelines at least, the Institute seems to go out of its way to not acknowledge this sort of experience if the other people happen to be friends or family members. I am hoping that there is some leeway in this regard, but unfortunately I won’t know until after I have passed Level III and submitted a work experience history.

i wish the institute was more transparent with the results and let out info like what the MPS was and how much % did we score exactly instead of giving the bands

I suspect the ‘value’ of CFA may be perceived less with all these changes – supply and demand i suppose!
