  • India
  • Kuwait

  • Peru
  • Turkey
  • Vienna
  • Czech Republic
  • Russia
  • Thailand
  • Philippines (Part 2 only)
  • Ireland (Part 2 only)
  • Bahrain (Part 2 only)
  • Malaysia
  • Oman (Part 2 only)
  • Vietnam (Part 2 only)
  • Pakistan (Part 2 only)
  • Israel (due to current conflict)
  • Taiwan (Part 1 only)

May 2021 FRM Exams Postponed: FAQ

We will keep this page updated as we learn more, but meanwhile, here are some FAQs on next steps:

How do I reschedule my postponed FRM exam?

Affected candidates should wait for their dashboard in GARP’s portal to be updated to reflect this deferral to November/December, before logging in and scheduling their exam appointment.

Exam appointments are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For more details on GARP’s general rescheduling and deferral policies for FRM exams, please check out our FRM exam dates FAQs.

Will my FRM exam location be cancelled?

GARP have not ruled out more cancellations and are actively monitoring the local pandemic situation globally.

Just like the previous exam cycle, we will keep this page updated as we learn more.

Which FRM exam window will I be deferred to?

Affected Part 1 and Part 2 candidates will be deferred to the November/December 2021 exam window.

Can I get a refund instead?

As far as we understand, GARP currently does not provide refunds for either the exam enrollment or registration fee as a normal policy.

Well, I have some free time now. Any recommendations on courses to take while I wait for my FRM exams?

We have a list of alternative qualifications that FRM candidates might be interested in, which includes financial modelling, programming, data science, languages and well-being courses.

Alternatively – you could also take a break. Spend some time with your family and friends, practice some yoga, and focus on yourself. And stay safe out there.

  • It is very inappropriate of GARP to conduct the July part 1 exams in India during the ongoing situation students have been going through a lot and they can't give their best in this fearsome situation. We should all write an email to them to provide us with an option to defer the exam if we want to.

    • Candidates are of course free to contact GARP to suggest how they should best handle pandemic-related disruption, but please bear in mind that it isn't easy to decide a policy that will suit the individual needs and concerns of every FRM candidate.

Let us know if GARP responds to your email!

  • Hi, is there any news or possibility of the Jul21 frm exams being postponed in india

  • Mam we should write a mail to garp or directly call them to ask for deferral of july 2021 exam in india?

  • Is there a way to defer the July exam to November? I don’t see the situation getting any better in India now. Thank you.

    • Hi Goutha, unfortunately changes between exam windows are not allowed unless CFA Institute offers you that deferral option. They may offer it for India's situation but this is not guaranteed at this stage given how rapid things change every month.

  • Is FRM providing any refund options for people whose date has been impacted multiple times(My initial exam date was May 2020 and now after multiple deferrals due to covid, it’s November 2021, due to which my plans have changed and I no longer wish to apper)
If CFA institute is giving this option, GARP should also consider this! :(

    • Unfortunately GARP aren't providing any refunds other than through their standard terms and conditions. No pandemic-specific exceptions.

  • Honestly, the cancellation in Vienna is just ridiculous. In November the exam was hold in full lockdown with 50 people in one room and now it has been postponed to November. Now that the situation is much better and that most of the restrictions have been lifted. Covid is just used too often as an excuse. Really frustrating.

    • Sorry to hear you've had your exam postponed. GARP's cancellations have been more all-encompassing than other qualifications - I think they're banking on 'better safe than sorry'.

  • What about frm part one exam which was to be held in the month of July ? Is that postponed as well ?
